Custom Photo & Document Restoration and Repair Services : Lewiston, Clarkston, Moscow, Pullman & worldwide!
Careful restoration and repair of old family photos and documents can save images that would otherwise be lost forever.  The same techniques used to digitally modify and improve modern portraits are used to restore historical photos and important family treasures.  The repaired images can then be scanned and printed or stored on CD to preserve them them indefinitely.

This is a very old photo dating to the Civil War era.  The photo was cracked and damaged after years of storage.    Large pieces of the original were missing and there were numerous cuts and cracks.  Tape was applied to the photo in the 1950's which caused additional discoloration and it had been stored in a pizza box for the past 30 years.  Original photo is approximately 20 inches wide.  Repair time was three hours.  Original photo was scanned in four parts, reassembled digitally, and then reprinted.  Repaired image was given back to the client both as a full size print and as a digital file on CD.

This is an original Civil War draft notice, signed by Illinois Governor Richard Yates in 1863.  It had been folded and taped and was in six pieces.  The pieces were scanned, reassembled, the tape lines were removed, and the missing letters and words were carefully repaired.  This project took five hours. The client received the original in the same condition as delivered, with a print the exact size as the original, plus the digital file on CD.

Original tin type photo from the mid 1800's and restoration version.
Restored photo.   Caption says "USS Drayton of the overseas fleet" Dated Feb 11, 1919.  Original photo was torn, discolored from tape, and scratched.

Photos are carefully scanned and then digitally repaired.  Scratches, stains, cuts, discoloration, are fixed along the way.   Restoration work is $35 per hour and it can take anywhere from 20 minutes to many hours to repair a photo, depending upon it's size, the amount of damage, and the amount of detail in the original photo.
